Cali Z. Hayes is an experienced grant writer in Portland who works with nonprofits throughout the U.S.
Like you, I've worked on the front lines of fundraising.
Over the last eight years, I have developed grant proposals for some fabulous nonprofits, both on staff and as a consultant. All told, those proposals have raised more than $30 million.
I know sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day to develop winning proposals while simultaneously cultivating new donors, overseeing programs, conducting evaluations, coordinating events, maintaining relationships, working with volunteers, and getting a decent night’s sleep.
Writing great grant proposals takes time and, in the nonprofit world, time is your most valuable resource. I’m here to take the grant writing load off your shoulders so you can focus more of your time on the work that energizes you.
I am affiliated with:
I have developed successful proposals to:
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD)
U.S. Department of Labor (DOL)
National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
State & Local Government Agencies e.g., City of San Jose, City of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), and others.
Private Foundations e.g., The Ahmanson Foundation, Meyer Memorial Trust, The William Randolph Hearst Foundation, and many more.
There are several ways I can help you...
Whether you need funding for a well-established program or you need to turn a concept into a fully-fledged pitch, I am here to help. I have years of experience developing successful proposals for federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as corporations and private foundations.
This is a great option if you want help launching your grants program, but ultimately would like to manage it in house. I'll help you create a plan, find prospective funders, and develop your first proposals. Then I’ll step back and let you take the reins (while remaining available to offer guidance as needed).
Finding New Funders
Prospect research is a critical, but often time-consuming, part of building your grants pipeline. You and I will discuss your organization’s needs, goals, and current funding and I will build a list of potential funders, complete with full profiles identifying key information and potential strategies.
Services are provided for a flat fee based on the length and complexity of the project, and your investment will vary depending on your organization’s needs. I encourage you to get in touch with me to determine the exact rate for your project!
As a general guide, costs tend to land in the following ranges:
